Purpose-built Bowmere Hospital in Chester has received national recognition and its facilities are unrivalled in the North West.
Bowmere opened in 2005 on a self-contained campus including an adult and older people’s resource centre, gym facilities, cyber cafe, spiritual care room, and an activity centre within landscaped gardens.
The PICU at Bowmere is based on Willow ward, which has seven en-suite bedrooms providing a comfortable and private environment for service users. A range of colourful and spacious communal rooms are available, as well as a secure garden area.
A safe care suite is available which enables discreet access for service users requiring a period of time apart from communal areas. This facility can be particularly effective for new arrivals who can be integrated into the communal environment at their own pace.
“I visited Bowmere a while ago and was profoundly impressed by so many aspects of the service. Not just the fabulous, thoughtfully planned, created and maintained physical environment and the many therapeutic and recreational activities.
But in particular, that crucial, palpable but almost unmeasurable element of the quality of the relationship between staff and patients.”
